Disengagement mechanism of the brake pads of the drum brake for Vespa 50-125/PV/ET3/PK models.
With a tribute to the Spanish Vespa PK models，we have reproduced the rear brake cam of the last series.
This brake cam now offers for the first time the possibility to use a brake cable with threaded rod，as known from the Vespa T5，also on Smallframe.

Without the brake cam no brake shoes can be operated.
This important part wears out after long use.
Unfortunately it has been out of production by PIAGGIO for a long time.
Therefore it is newly manufactured by SIP SPARE PARTS in very high quality.
The brake cam is considered as a plug and play spare part and replaces the existing brake cam with clamp.
The metal of the cam rubs against the metal of the brake pads and wears over time.
Lubricated with copper paste or a high-temperature grease，wear is counteracted，but even if the brake was always meticulously worked on，wear is still to be assumed after many years of use.
A wear edge on the sliding surface of the cam not only worsens the braking effect，but also makes itself felt in the modulation of the brake.
Ideally，the braking effect can be precisely controlled via the brake lever or the brake pedal.
If，for example，the rear brake locks，this should be controllably solved by reducing the pressure on the brake pedal.
But if the cam is worn，it can happen that although the pressure on the brake pedal is reduced，the brake itself sticks and the brake pads are not evenly reset by the spring.
Especially with brakes，it should be clear to everyone that these components should be in top condition without any ifs and buts.
Therefore，we strongly recommend that all brake components be regularly checked for wear and replaced.
