High-tech Clutch for the Vespa Largeframe Models.
“Supersport” version of the unrivaled BFA Clutch.
With this clutch,the functional principle of the Vespa Largeframe clutch has been reversed.
This is intended to connect less mass rigidly to the Crankshaft and has the effect of improving operability.
Together with 4 Washers and 9 Springs,this is an almost indestructible clutch that is perfect for any application.
The whole thing fits under the original PX Clutch Cover.

The principle of the inverted Vespa Largeframe Clutch is becoming increasingly popular.
Grinding and separation behavior are convincing.
Unfortunately,these clutches are usually expensive,which Elevates the hurdle for the changeover.
The aim of the Supersport Clutch is to make the ease of use attractive for 20-30hp Engines.
The small company BFA from Italy made the start and was the first to reverse the functional principle of the Clutch for Vespa Largeframe Models.
This means that it is no longer the outer basket that rotates with the Crankshaft,but the inner basket.
This principle was copied by several manufacturers,but the performance of the BFA Clutch was never achieved.
SIP bought the clutch from BFA in 2019 and continues to have it produced by the same manufacturers in Italy.
The clutch works perfectly and easily withstands power of over 70 hp.
As the full performance of the BFA clutch is rarely required,we decided to develop a similar clutch with 4 Washers.
The aim was to transfer the perfect function and durability of the BFA clutch into a cheaper clutch that can easily transmit 50hp.
The result is impressive and can only be equaled or surpassed in function and durability by the 5-disc BFA Clutch.
As with the BFA version,the Drive Sprocket is fitted with 12 Screws.
The design of the 4 Clutch Friction Plates is taken from the Cosa clutch,using SIP plates on aluminum carrier material.
This has made it possible to increase the number of tabs on both the inside and outside basket,which increases the service life of the facing and separating discs.
6 Springs provide sufficient contact pressure,leaving enough space for 9 Springs for a further upgrade.
CNC-machined individual parts made of high-quality aluminum ensure low weight and high quality standards.
The pads can be changed when installed.
Suitable for the original clutch flange of the PX Crankshaft or with splines that form an almost indestructible connection with the Crankshaft.
However,this requires the use of a Crankshaft with the same splines.
The splines were first found on the crankshaft of the BFA 306 Engines,but we now also offer them for a whole range of crankshafts for standard PX Crankcases.
If you want to combine the SIP Supersport Clutch with a large Primary Driven Gear Z64 from e.g.
Polini,Malossi,BFA or other manufacturers,you can buy the clutches “without gear” 93440000 and 93441000 and combine them with one of the BFA Gear Cogs 87482600,87482700,87482800.
The splined crankshaft stub cannot be combined with separate lubrication.
This is because there is no Washer Clutch with splines and inner diameter for M14.
The version for the original Flange can be used with separate lubrication.
However,the protruding M5 countersunk screws may rub against the Axle of the oil pump gear in the Crankcase.
To remedy this,it is sufficient to grind the Axle of the Oil Pump approx.
0.5 mm lower.
Alternatively,the protrusions of the Screws can also be ground off.
The SIP Supersport Clutch reliably transmits up to over 50 hp with the dedicated pads 93440100 and 6 Springs of hardness L (wire thickness 1.6 mm) part number 82875000.
If you fit all 9 possible Spring positions,you can transmit even more power.
As the Springs are of the “PK XL2” type,Cosa springs can also be added inside..
If you want a particularly smooth-running Clutch and only need to transmit up to around 25 hp,6 standard Springs 82872000 (wire thickness 1.3 mm) are sufficient.
In addition,cork pads are more grateful here.
Elevating to 9 Springs instead or adding Cosa springs as inner springs can also work your way up towards 30 hp while maintaining outstandingly low hand force.
The SIP “Race” Clutch Springs with 2.0 mm wire thickness are not suitable for the Supersport clutch 9344xxxx.
Conclusion:The Supersport Clutch for Vespa Largeframe Models is the absolute high-end solution for a clean,reliable and easy-to-operate power connection between the Engine and gearbox.
