COSA 2 Clutch for Vespa Largeframe - comfortable,resilient and ideal for retrofitting.
PIAGGIO has redefined largeframe clutch technology with the COSA 2 clutch.
Higher contact pressure,clean disconnection and pleasantly easy operation make it the most popular upgrade solution to date - fitted as standard since around 1995 in PX Lusso/’98/MY/’11 and COSA 2.

The COSA 2 clutch is supplied with 4 Clutch Friction Plates,8 Clutch Springs and a solid basket.
Due to the higher contact pressure and larger friction surface,significantly more power can be transmitted.
Laser-cut Clutch Baskets reduce “sticky” clutching:no plucking,no slipping,optimum disengagement - and all this with very smooth operation.
Operation remains comfortable even with reinforced Springs.
The COSA 2 Clutch is available with 20,21,22 and 23 teeth.
Without adapting the Primary Driven Gear,Z 20-22 fit 125-150cc models,Z 21-23 fit 200cc models.
Further ratio variants are possible with modified Primary Driven Gears or DRT Clutch Gear Cogs.
In principle,all Largeframe models from VNA/VBA up to 1994 can be retrofitted.
For 125-150 models,the Clutch Cover must be modified or a PX200 Clutch Cover with matching Pressure Plate must be used.
As traditional Italian companies,NEWFREN and FERODO also manufacture this clutch with a ring and Reinforcement Springs.
However,the ring version should only be used on Engines up to 15 hp.
For original fans,the Clutch is also available from PIAGGIO.
Note:In the past,there have been quality fluctuations with both manufacturers.
Insert is therefore recommended on standard engines or the ring version up to a maximum of 15 hp.
If you want comfort but want to ride reliably with a tuned Engine,replace the Clutch Basket with a Sport version from SIP or a Race Basket from SIP,MMW or S&S.
Attention:Not compatible with the PINASCO Clutch Bush.
Conclusion:With a matching sport/race Clutch Basket,the COSA 2 clutch is a top recommendation for almost every largeframe Engine.
For precise separation,a separation clearance of approx.
0.5 mm is required between the outer edge of the Clutch Baseplate and the Clutch Gear Cog.
Tolerances in Thrust Washers/Clutch can reduce the Game; Washers can tilt when the Nut is tightened and come into contact with the primary gear.
In case of problems:Grind off the starting edge of the Clutch Gear Cog by approx.
0.2 mm or use aSpacer .
For tuning engines,be sure to replace the basket with a sports or race basket.
