High-tech Clutch for Vespa Largeframe Models with improved operating principle and power transmission.
The SIP-BFA Clutch was developed for extreme loads.
The first version was conceived by BFA for the 306 Engine.
There it usually has to reliably transmit power of around 50 hp.
However,the SIP-BFA 2.0 version has also been successfully tested with outputs of over 80 hp.

The operating principle of the Vespa Largeframe Clutch has been reversed.
This is intended to connect less mass rigidly to the Crankshaft and has the effect of improving operability.
The design of the clutch In order to reverse the operating principle of the clutch,some design work was necessary.
BFA has manufactured its own primary pinion for this clutch.
This not only ensures a solid and robust solution,but the flat design of the Drive Sprocket also saves installation space.
A decisive prerequisite for accommodating 5 facing plates in the clutch.
The Clutch Pinion is connected to the CNC-milled outer basket via 12 Screws.
There is a Needle Bearing between the inner and outer basket instead of the original bronze bushing.
The clutch is actuated by a ball-bearing Pressure Plate.
Similar to a Vespa Smallframe Clutch,there are 6 Springs in the lowest Plate,which can be supplemented by 6 small Springs placed in the middle.
A straight-toothed primary transmission is included in the scope of delivery.
Also two Screws that can be used to compress the Clutch and allow the pads to be changed when installed.
The set also includes two rings that can be used to distance the Pressure Plate from the Clutch Cover to the correct height.
The whole thing fits under the original Clutch Cover of the PX 200 (occasionally some reworking is required).
Parts from the Vespa Smallframe Models are used as linings.
The separating disks are made of steel.
However,we also offer aluminum discs as replacement parts.
The SIP-BFA 2.0 is a slight update of the BFA Clutch.
Tolerances have been reduced,wall thicknesses increased and the outer basket now comes in two versions.
The aluminum version of the outer basket comes with a surface finish to ensure greater resistance to the lugs of the Clutch Friction Plates.
The steel version of the basket is even more robust,but not quite as sporty due to its higher weight.
The Clutch’s Flange is toothed to form an indestructible connection with the Crankshaft.
However,this requires the use of a Crankshaft with the same splines.
These are available for the BFA Crankcase as well as for original Vespa Crankcases.
Conclusion:The Clutch for the Vespa Largeframe Models from BFA is the absolute high-end solution for a clean,reliable and easy-to-use power connection between the Engine and gearbox.
