This drive shaft，main shaft，gearbox output shaft is a tribute to the wideframe scene.
It fits on most，very old Vespas with ball bearings in the slotted bushing，often Faro-Basso，used by Piaggio in Italy up to approx.
year of manufacture 1954/55.
In other countries with licensed production，such as Spain，this drive shaft was also used in later engines.
It has the small bearing seat with diameter 20 on the side of the gearshift detent and thus fits engines with ball bearings in the slotted bushing of the kickstarter segment.
This type of drive shaft bearing was last fitted by Piaggio on the Vespa VN in serial number 6000.
Today，the wideframe drive shafts often show radial runout，i.e.
they are bent and wobbly.
Sometimes the gears are also worn.
No wonder after about 70 years.
Rubbing brakes，vibrations etc.
can have their origin here.

It is manufactured to a very high standard and the manufacturer has paid close attention to the correct material and the right fits and degrees of hardness.
Conclusion：In combination with Pinasco，DRT or Benelli gear kits，the SIP Spareparts drive shaft for ball bearings in the slotted bushing can now also be used to overhaul the gearboxes of older Wideframe models 100％ completely with new parts.
When overhauling the drive shaft，don’t forget to think about a new SIP lock washer selector rod.
The shift rod has a left-hand thread，tightening torque 25-30 Nm and it is best to secure it additionally with Loctite.
