Kick-starting your Vespas motor can be an exhausting and sometimes painful experience，especially when you have a performance cylinder mounted or your leg muscles are not exactly ‘Tour de France’ standard！ If your motor is not equipped with an electric-starter or you simply do not want to fit one，you may reminisce over the good，old folding kick-starters of yesteryear.
We here at SIP were also visited by these dreams，but all our hopes of a revival of these items production were dashed when we were informed by the people at BUZZETTI that the original castings used in their manufacture were destroyed years ago！ We saw this as a reason to take care of it ourselves...
New edition of a classic

Sporty look close to the original
With the obvious advantages of this 1980s classic component in mind，we decided to redesign it slightly with a few added features.
The shape and positioning of the lever has been re-evaluated with its extreme sporting attitude being inspired by the appearance of the BUZZETTI item.
The forged aluminium body is now available with a powder coated surface covering in red or black，or also a combination of polished aluminium and red.
The kick-starter lever itself is produced using a cast steel material and can be fitted with the original size PIAGGIO kick-starter rubbers.
When the kick-starter is not in use it can be folded upwards by 90°，safely out of harms way.
The serrations located on the inner surface of the mounting hole correspond with those found on the kick-starter shaft originally found on the Vespa PX and Cosa motors.
Unfortunately，the kick starter does not fit on the BFA 306cc engine case，as it is attached to the lower fan cover screw.
Conclusion：The extended overall length of this fold-able kick-starter provides enough extra leverage to kick over motors with the higher compression ratios involved with performance cylinders.
