SIP PERFORMANCE racing exhaust system for Vespa Largeframe:the classic with pressure from below - handmade and suitable for touring.
SIP PERFORMANCE - the name says it all.
For over ten years,this system has been one of the most sought-after Racing Exhausts for Largeframe setups.
It was developed in 1997 in collaboration with SIP and JIM LOMAS,after the street racer scene demanded an exhaust that packs a powerful punch,especially in the lower and medium rev ranges.
This is exactly what the SIP PERFORMANCE stands for:plenty of steam from below,robust,suitable for everyday use - and yet with real racing character.
Over the years,the classic has been further developed several times and,unfortunately,often badly copied.

Handcrafted from stainless steel (optionally polished) or black powder-coated steel as EVO
Wide tire and Centre Stand mounting possible,spare wheel mounting not possible

The system is handcrafted from stainless steel (optionally polished) - “never rust again” included.
It is partially double-walled to minimize noise.
The Exhaust Manifold is suspended on both sides with Springs,the Holder on the Traverse is designed to absorb the vibrations of the Silencer.
An O-ring seal between the Exhaust Manifold Stub,body and Exhaust Manifold Stub was deliberately omitted,as rigid connections can increase the risk of cracking.
The Exhaust works from standard cylinders to road setups and bottom-end tuned engines - depending on the Engine,approx.
15-28 HP and 105-150 km/h are realistic.
The SIP EVO is identical in construction,but is made of steel and powder-coated in black.
There are two versions for Vespa T5:The version with a short Exhaust Manifold is particularly suitable for high-revving Engines and also works very well with standard cylinders.
The SIP PERFORMANCE NT with a longer Exhaust Manifold delivers more power at the bottom and is ideal for MALOSSI and POLINI Cylinders.
JL Warranty:For all first-time owners who have purchased the Exhaust from SIP,a 3-year warranty applies from the date of purchase:Should the Exhaust break,it will be repaired or replaced by JIM LOMAS (curb damage excluded).
The SIP PERFORMANCE combines touring capability with high-end potential:the elastic power delivery means that usable power is available early on without the rev range becoming too narrow.
The Springs-mounted manifold suspension and the robust Traverse bracket support durability in everyday use.
Important after the conversion:The jetting and ignition settings must be checked and optimized to ensure that performance,temperature and stability match.

“Let’s take a look at the performance diagram of the SIP Performance:18.3 hp at 6,840 rpm and 19 Nm from 6,200-6,800 rpm are quite something.
The power curve runs smoothly across the entire rev range up to the maximum of 18.3 hp.
At 5,000 rpm,there is still 10.4 hp and 15 Nm at the rear wheel - very good for everyday suitability.
The SIP Performance also shines with excellent elasticity,which results in a fiercely good pulling power.
The Exhaust is also suitable on the highway,where a maximum of 140 km/h was reached during our test drives.”

Note:JL Exhausts has been struggling with a sharp rise in material and personnel costs for some time now.
Customs duties,bureaucratic hurdles and a shortage of skilled workers are making production even more difficult and expensive.
Unfortunately,this will lead to a price increase for all models from 07/2025.
We have been able to mitigate the adjustment for the most common racing exhaust systems,but some models will be permanently removed from the range.
The exhaust systems are still manufactured by hand in Europe to the highest quality standards.
Low noise development,high durability,a striking racing look thanks to clean weld seams and high-quality materials such as stainless steel continue to speak for these exhaust systems.
