Silent block for the engine swing arm by SIP Spare Parts in original quality for Vespa Cosa.
Silent rubbers provide the connection between body and chassis.
If the rubbers are too soft,over-aged,crushed,cracked or used up,the Vespa’s directional stability is limited,straight-line stability suffers and the handling becomes wobbly and tippy.
Quality like the original
More comfort on the road
Improved driving characteristics
Durable material
Overly hard rubbers, often recommended for racing, improve tracking stability, but they transmit more vibrations to the bodywork and handlebars, and from there to the rider.
Tingling, numb hands and buttocks can be the result,as well as joint pain, etc.
However, the bodywork/sheet metal parts themselves also suffer.
The stronger vibrations cause them to crack much more quickly, stress cracks appear for example on the leg shield, kick plate, cheeks and mudguards.
Many of the Vespas that are still in use are now over 30 years old.
The rubber parts usually show the vehicle’s age most honestly.
A rubber part that is more than 30,40,50 years old can always be considered as overaged today.
UV radiation and aggressive media such as engine oil, brake fluid, salt water, sand, dust and dirt often cause the rubbers to crack, discolour and sometimes even decompose.
SIP manufactures silent rubbers in original quality, including versions that have not been available for some time, such as for the Piaggio Cosa.
The degrees of hardness are based on those of the original parts to ensure the best compromise between riding characteristics and comfort.
The rubbers are made of high quality material, resistant to aggressive media and UV stable.
Drive a screwdriver between the rubber and the crossbar and run spray oil (Ballistol,WD40) into the resulting gap.
Treat the rubber all around and then lever it out with a large screwdriver or assembly lever.
If a screwdriver cannot be driven in,the old rubbers can also be drilled at the edge to give the oil access.
Make sure that the edges of the sleeves have large chamfers.
Lubricate the rubbers and sleeves with washing-up liquid (Pril) or talcum powder.
Then press in the new rubbers,e.g.
with a large vice.
Or use a special tool.
Conclusion:With our SIP silent rubber for the engine swing arm you get the best and most balanced product with all the positive characteristics of the original.
Stay away from rubbers that are too hard! The vibrations are transferred to the bodywork and accelerate the tearing of the sheet metal parts.
Also have a look at our silent rubbers for the cross member / engine swing arm; also available from us for Vespa Cosa!
With tyre fitting paste the fitting goes better, the paste from DRC is also very good.
Check the shock absorbers at regular intervals and grease the front axle of the oldies or replace worn suspension parts!
The silent rubbers for the engine case for the Vespa Cosa were soon no longer available for decades.
But Andre from the SIP team rides a Cosa himself in quartermile and cross races.
And so it was only a matter of time that he took up the subject and SIP has now resurrected the silentblocks with new shapes and materials.
