On older Vespas the stator plates tend to be faulty.
Small frame motor stator plates are no longer produced anywhere.
This is why we decided to do something to resolve this situation.
The SIP stator plates are assembled are assembled by CEAB,an Italian OEM manufacturer and producer of coils and capacitors,who thoroughly measure and test every single stator plate produced before it leaves their workshop.
The ignition,light and charging coils used are 100% Italian produced.
The condensers and the contact breaker itself are made by EFFE.
This extensive attention to detail eliminates bad solder points,intermittent function of the coils or broken wiring on the stators.
We have had new castings made to produce the aluminium base plate of the stators.
The most common type of breaker ignitions included on all Vespa wideframe models have 3-coils on the stator plate.
It is found on all models with a 6V electrical system that do not have indicators or a battery included.
The special serial connection of the ignition coil improves the durability of the contact-breaker ignition and noticeably increases the voltage it produces.
This qualifies our SIP stator plates to be perfect for combination with the 177cc cylinder kits.
It is also compatible with all Vespa 125 VNB2-5T/1560 VBA/VBB 1T/VGLA/VGLB models providing the rear light and also the parking lights are converted to 5W and the brake light to 10W.
Models equipped with an internal rotor system,such as the Vespa 125 VNB2-5T can also enjoy the benefits of this system upgrade.
This conversion requires the external ignition system to also be ordered.
The diversity of the “with battery” Vespa models is large and confusing.
We made a stator plate with reinforced coils - good for using also with sport cylinders.
The 3-coil stator plate is also available with an internal rotor ignition coil,suitable for the Vespa 125 VNB1-5T model.
These are identical to the original type and are meant for use in the maintenance and 100% original restoration of these Vespas and are not compatible with more modern ignition system components,such as RF suppressed spark-plugs,spark-plug caps or cables!
These stator plates are compatible with all Vespa largeframe models equipped with a points system ignition,regardless of minor differences in their original PIAGGIO country of export reference numbers.
All stator plates in this range include a fully detailed wiring diagram instructions.
The usual colour coding for the attachment to the rest of the wiring loom is as follows:Green - Lights,Yellow - Parking lights,Blue - Brake light,Black - Earth,Red - Ignition coil & switch,Orange - Indicators.
Conclusion:At last an alternative is available to a conversion.
An Italian,Austrian and German joint venture.
SIP-TIP:When ordering the stator plate with an external ignition coil do not forget to order one as well.
A flywheel remover,piston stopper and degree disc make ignition work a lot easier.
Check your wiring loom for defects and repair as necessary.
Installation advice:
The contacts surface of the the breaker can oxidize.
If necessary,it must be cleaned carefully before mounting with e.g.
using a cardboard strip,which is usually included.
New breakers should be readjusted after 50-80 km.
Otherwise misfires can occur.
