Electrics and ignition timingThe SIP PERFORMANCE Ignition from VAPE uses eight Lighting Coils on the Base Plate and delivers a very bright Light even at idle speed.
With up to 110 W output power,additional consumers such as Fuel Pump,Lambda Sensor or USB socket can be implemented.
AC and DC versions are available:AC for classic on-board networks without a battery,DC for setups with SIP speedometer and other digital consumers as well as high battery charging power.
The Road CDI works with static ignition timing and is based on the original driving experience.
The Sport CDI offers speed-dependent adjustment:more pre-ignition at low revs for better torque before the resonance range,less pre-ignition at the top for cooler combustion and a wider usable rev range.
Mechanics,cooling and smooth runningOne highlight is the one-piece Flywheel without a riveted Cone.
This virtually eliminates imbalances and out-of-round running,reduces engine vibrations and protects the crankshaft bearings.
The CNC-milled aluminum Fanwheel with 18 blades achieves and exceeds the volume flow of the original Flywheels at both low and high speeds without slowing down the Engine at high speeds.
The weight of around 1,650 g (DL/GP) or 1,680 g (LI/LIS/SX/TV) ensures a spontaneous response,but remains suitable for everyday use,even when riding pillion.
The original Flywheel Puller can continue to be used;the slim Nut (e.g.
item no.
78045000) must be used for LI/TV.
Installation,adjustment and practiceThe two-part,back-to-back Pickup on the Base Plate makes the Ignition insensitive to lateral manufacturing tolerances on Crankcases,Crankshafts,Base Plates and Flywheels.
Ignition timing markings on the Flywheel and Base Plate allow adjustment without a strobe light,provided the top dead center has been precisely determined beforehand.
When using the AC/DC version with an SIP Rev Counter,the signal is either tapped via a KOSO signal filter or the brown Wire of the SIP Rev Counter is connected directly to the white Wire of the SIP/VAPE CDI;the ignition pulse must then be set to “1” in the tachometer.
Depending on the version,the scope of delivery includes the Stator Plate,CDI,Flywheel,Fan and Rectifier (DC) or Voltage Regulator (AC),making it easier to convert to a modern,high-performance ignition system.
