Black Edition,style update for the SIP Performance by VAPE Ignition for classic Vespa and Lambretta Models.
The SIP Performance by VAPE Ignition is the most popular ignition for classic Vespa and Lambretta scooters due to its reliability and performance.
As the Flywheel is clearly visible on many models,the choice of Ignition also has an influence on the style of the vehicle.
With the “Black Edition",SIP offers an alternative to the silver Flywheel with the characteristic CNC-machined surface.
The black version differs from the standard version with a black anodized Flywheel.

The electrical function corresponds to the current state of the art.
With 8 Lighting Coils on the Base Plate,sufficient current is generated to light up the vehicle lights brightly even at idling speed.
The extremely stable Flywheel One of the greatest advances is the production of the Flywheel in one piece,without individually riveted cones.
This virtually eliminates imbalance and out-of-round running;engine vibrations are reduced and wear on the crankshaft bearings is minimized.
The Fanwheels are CNC-milled from aluminum and correspond to the original Flywheels of the PX125 and PK Models in terms of volume flow at low and high speeds;the cooling performance of other tuning Ignitions is significantly exceeded,but without slowing down at high speeds.
The weight of the Flywheels including Flywheel is 1390 g (Smallframe),1660 g (Largeframe) and 1650 g (Lambretta).
These fans are therefore lighter than the original,the Engine hangs better on the throttle,but is still comfortable to ride in everyday and two-man operation.
The original Flywheel Puller also fits SIP - VAPE.
The two versions of the SIP-VAPE Ignition:Road or Sport The CDI is available as a Road version with static ignition timing (as original) and in the Sport version with variable ignition timing,so that a higher pre-ignition is available at low engine speeds.
This results in higher torque,especially in the pre-resonance speed range;in the resonance range itself,the pre-ignition decreases,combustion is Radiator and the speed range becomes wider at the top.
The exact adjustment range is shown as a diagram in the instructions.
Between 4000 and 8000 rpm,for example,the Ignition adjusts by 8 degrees in the late direction.
The Pickup on the Base Plate is arranged in two parts,one behind the other,instead of side by side,as on the PIAGGIO original.
This makes this ignition insensitive to lateral misalignment,which occasionally occurs due to manufacturing tolerances in some Crankcases,Crankshafts,Stator Plates and Flywheels.
The exact ignition timing is marked with a precise line on the Flywheel and Base Plate.
This makes it possible to adjust the Ignition without flashing the strobe light.
To do this,it is only necessary to determine the top dead center (TDC),e.g.
with a reversal measurement.
Now it gets exciting:Alternating current AC or direct current DC.
The SIP-VAPE Ignition is available in DC and AC versions.
AC:The most common variant is the AC version for all models without a Battery.
Here,the alternating current generated by the alternator is simply limited and stabilized by a Voltage Regulator.
DC:If you want to connect an SIP speedometer and other digital consumers,as well as a high charging current for the Battery,you should choose the direct current (DC) version.
When using the DC variant,the current from the alternator is used entirely to charge the Battery.
From there,the vehicle electrical system is supplied with a stable,powerful voltage.
Regardless of whether the Engine is running or not.
Note:When using the DC variant in conjunction with the SIP Rev Counter,either the KOSO signal filter must be used for speed pick-up or the brown Wire of the SIP Rev Counter must be connected to the white Wire of the SIP/VAPE CDI! The ignition pulse for the tachometer must be set to 1 for DC and 6 for AC.
Note 2:When installing a SIP-Vape ignition in the DC version on all PX models with combined Ignition and Steering Lock (i.e.
usually Lusso and later models),special features must be observed:These models with Battery have DC and AC circuits installed in the on-board electrical system as standard.
High beam and low beam are supplied with alternating current,which is switched via an output on the Ignition Lock.
Models equipped as standard with a Stator Plate with 5 wires can retain the original Piaggio regulator.
Things get a little more complicated with Models that are equipped with a standard Stator Plate with 7 wires.
In this case,the on-board power supply and regulator must be converted to the standard 5 Wire version.
Conclusion:The SIP-Vape Ignition puts an end to old Vespa ignition problems:The Flywheel can be virtually eliminated as a source of error.
The ignition spark is always reliably generated.
Sufficient current is always available for the Light.
