The SIP Performance Ignition is the most popular ignition for classic Vespa and Lambretta scooters due to its reliability and performance.

Particularly stable FlywheelWith the “CLASSIC” version of the Ignition,it can hardly be distinguished visually from the original and blends in unobtrusively with the look of the historic technology.
It combines ignition parts from VAPE with cast aluminum parts in the original look,made by SIP.
What distinguishes the “CLASSIC" Compared to the other versions of the SIP Performance by Vape Ignition,the Flywheel and Stator Plate of the SIP Performance CLASSIC version are cast.
The surface of the fan is very similar to that of an original Flywheel.
This brings the appearance of the Engine closer to the classic look of the original.
All technical ignition components such as the Flywheel,Ignition/Lighting Coil,Electronic Unit,Voltage Regulator or Rectifier as well as the small parts are all original from VAPE.
If you want an even more original look,you can use Voltage Regulators and Electronic Units in which the corresponding technology has been installed in original optics casings.
However,these are not produced by VAPE.
The Ignition for restoration and road tuningThe road version has a static ignition timing (as original).
The Ignition delivers a high electrical output of 110W even at low engine speeds (bright Light).
Additional consumers are reliably supplied (Fuel Pump,Lambda sensor heater,USB socket,SIP Rev Counter,...).
The Pickup on the Base Plate is arranged in two parts one behind the other,instead of side by side,as with PIAGGIO original.
This makes this ignition insensitive to lateral misalignment.
The exact ignition timing is marked on the Flywheel and Base Plate with a precise line.
This makes it possible to adjust the Ignition without flashing the strobe light.
Now it gets exciting:alternating current AC or direct current DC.
The SIP Classic Ignition is available in DC and AC versions.
AC:The most common variant is the AC version for all models without a Battery.
Here,the alternating current generated by the alternator is simply limited and stabilized by a Voltage Regulator.
DC:If you want to connect an SIP speedometer and other digital consumers,as well as a high charging current for the Battery,you should choose the direct current (DC) version.
When using the DC variant,the current from the alternator is used entirely to charge the Battery.
From there,the vehicle electrical system is supplied with a stable,powerful voltage.
Regardless of whether the Engine is running or not.
Note:When using the DC variant in conjunction with the SIP Rev Counter,either the KOSO signal filter must be used for speed pick-up or the brown Wire of the SIP Rev Counter must be connected to the white Wire of the SIP/VAPE CDI! The ignition pulse for the tachometer must be set to 1 for DC and 6 for AC.
Note 2:When installing a SIP Classic ignition in the DC version on all PX models with combined Ignition and Steering Lock (i.e.
usually Lusso and later models),special features must be observed:These models with Battery have DC and AC circuits installed in the on-board electrical system as standard.
High beam and low beam are supplied with alternating current,which is switched via an output on the Ignition Lock.
Models equipped as standard with a Stator Plate with 5 wires can retain the original Piaggio regulator.
Things get a little more complicated with Models that are equipped with a standard Stator Plate with 7 wires.
